THE TRAVEL CREATIVES WORLD TOUR PROJECT
This is a story about a quirky Texas family designing a new life using travel as a platform for creative expression and inspiration.
The journey started in January 2010 with a big dream for a remarkable life change that spotlights creativity, nature, culture, and dazzling experiences.
The first stop was Hawaii for six weeks in February-March 2010 for a project test run. Since natural beauty is a recipe for the flowing of creative juices, Hawaii seems like a no-brainer. (Plus, we stumbled upon an awesome opportunity to housesit for Uncle C). On the islands of Oahu and Hawaii, we sought out interesting creatives, interviewed them, and created mini documentaries highlighting their art, music, projects, products, travels, and businesses. We are currently in the process of completing the editing of the 15+ amazing souls we interviewed.
Upon our return to Texas, the one major thing that needed to take place in order for the big world tour to begin was selling our businesses! Our baby (for the last 12 years) was Yin Yang Fandango & The Tango Tea Room in Corpus Christi, Texas. It was essential that we find good owners who would nurture this special place to continue to grow and prosper. Plus, we needed to sell it in order to fund our world tour! Update: We successfully sold our business on August 1, 2010! Yay! Now the journey begins…
For 4 months we waded through the world of selling a business with wanderlust pumping through our veins and ants in our pants. Follow us as we design a creative world tour (with kids in tow) highlighting EXPERIENCE by means of enlightening people, places, and projects. The story starts in the Galapagos Islands, then Vilcabamba Ecuador in October 2010. This blog will document our journey and feature mini-documentaries of inspiring people we meet along the path to a more sustainable and creative life.
Travel has the power to transform. May all travelers heed the call “POWER TO THE TRAVELER”!
